Preheat oven to 375 degrees F In a large mixing bowl, beat together butter and sugars until creamy. Add eggs, milk, and vanilla; beat well. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt; add to creamed mixture and stir together. Add oats, chocolate chips and nuts; mix well. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 9 to 10 minutes for a chewy cookie or 12 to 13 minutes for a crisp cookie. Cool 1 minute on cookie sheet; remove to wire rack. Cool completely. Store tightly covered.
Bar Cookies: Heat oven on 375 degrees F. Press dough evenly onto bottom of ungreased 13x9- inch baking pan. Bake about 30 to 35 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool completely; cut into bars. Store tightly covered.
